York County SPCA reviews
32 The place to go to adopt in York County. Friendly staff, clean facility. TNR & group education opportunities for scouts etc.
They offer Trap-Neuter-Release stray cat program, at this time $15. Definitely check days & times for the program before you get excited!
Please check their website & support this great location with donations & possible volunteer opportunities!
Took my cat to have spayed. Drop of time for cats was 7: 30. Got there a little after 7: 30 and there was already a line of people waiting Only thing I would suggest is since they have 2 lines to check people in, that the one line is for people that prefilled out the forms since you do have the option to do that ahead of time. When there is no one else that already have the forms filled out, then start assisting others in that line also. I had all the forms filled out but most did not, which made the time wait longer. Other then that, the staff was very friendly and it was a good experience.
We took our 2 cats here to get them neutered. The staff were so friendly, and answered all my questions. They made me feel so comfortable about leaving my babies in their hands. Also, my original appointment was 3 months out which was disappointing, but they contacted me and I was able to get them in much sooner which I was super happy about. Definitely recommend!
I shouldn't have to make an appointment to see an animal. Seriously? Then on top of that I have to fill out my SAT's just to apply for a dog! I don't think so!
I use to donate to the shelter every year. Now, they no longer accept cats that are abandoned. Really? Since this new director took over, every thing went down hill. I tried to call and find out if the cat I found in my yard could have been lost and called to the shelter. Told me to go on web "Find Toby". Really? What the heck is their job? When I called, the girl who answered the phone was very agitated. Yeah, we need more people like her to be working in a supposed love of animals shelter. I say, donate to Salvation Army.
Took family member's cat to be neutered and vaccinated. Go to Tractor Supply or pet store.i know the SPCA has a difficult job, but, everyone should feel like they DONATE, not like highway robbery.
I found a kitten yesterday morning outside in the cold with an obvious back leg injury. I called to see if there was any way they could help me get him some medical attention or at least point me in the right direction since none of the vets are taking any new patients due to covid and I really didn’t have the money for an ER visit. I told them that I was also willing to keep him and care for him but I also have two other cats so I needed to make sure he was ok first. I was told they can help him but “only if I surrender him. ” Please tell me how you guys are so pushy for people to “adopt not shop” and are constantly making it known that the shelters are all full especially for cats hence the two purr one special you have a lot. But I can’t offer a kitten a nice, safe home unless you get to keep it? For what so it can be in a cage with the hundreds of others you can’t get rid of? What the hell is the matter with you guys? I myself and my family have adopted several animals from you and also donated money to help YOU. And this is how you treat someone just trying to do the right thing? Meanwhile, your CEO is making millions. It’s absolutely disgusting. I will never donate another penny to any of you and I will make it know how you treat people.
We love the YCSPCA and just recently adopted a cat and dog. My only complaint is the system of standing on line. I think a couple of people should stay at the desk just taking information and passing it on for others to complete.
Very friendly and helpful staff if you're looking for a forever pet that's definitely the place to go
My husband and I were looking for a dog to adopt. We visited several times a week, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about the animals they have and provided us with as much information they could on a dog. I highly recommend the SPCA for animal adoption. They have plenty of cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. There a lot of wonderful animals who need good homes. The SPCA is a great place to find a companion who fits in your family.
Got my dog neutered at the clinic and the whole process was very organized, staff was very friendly and informative. No issues or complications and cant beat the cost for surgery, bloodwork and microchip for routine things, my vet would have cost me at least 3 times that. Clinic was clean and efficient.
Lots of animals, usually same types of dogs (pitbulls). For a place looking to find animals a home, adoption fees are pretty steep. But they are a non profit and full of volunteers which is commendable.
I love this place cause I'm an animal lover but I do not like the fact that they put animals to sleep
Great clean facility. You can freely visit the animals then take one into a room once an application is filled out. The staff is always very friendly and will go out of their way to answer questions. I do wish they would make signs clearer if you shouldn't pet an animal.
This is where I adopted my first dog. The staff let me see my dog and walk him as well. The process of Adopting my dog was very easy due to the staff walking me through the process. I always believed in giving animals a second chance and this is the place to do it.
Very awesome staff, they take great care of their animals! And we will continue to adopt from them!
I adopted my dog from here, the place is very clean, the staff is very nice, and not to mention they have lots of adorable doggies!
They never answer the phone, which is extremely inconvenient when you live 40 mintues away. What I love about this place is you get to walk the animals with an approved application, and they aren’t crazy expensive!
We rescued a Shiba Inu from there and they go over and beyond to make sure that the animals are adopted by great families.
I can't say enough GREAT things about this place.they helped w/a sweet cat I found, when the local rescue organizations didn't, or couldn't. I so appreciate these guys! And clean.yes.inside & out!
