The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar reviews
32Food is decent, but the overall quality (taste) and dining experience does not match the final bill amount.
Super pricey for just so, so to full on bland food views were borderline mediocre from dining room wait staff attentive and we'll versed in menu items and the audacity to charge parking for dinners absolutely was the exclamation point to my most disappointing dining experience in Newport RI
Had a great time. The food was amazing. I ordered the Portuguese baked Cod dish. Dan our server was very helpful and made some great suggestions.
We love The Mooring so much! It’s right on the water with a gorgeous view. The food and service is above and beyond. We love the classic New England bites like the bag of donuts and clam chowder. The drinks are absolutely delicious and seasonal. Last week we had the Endless Summer and the Savasana. We got at least two rounds of them lol. I was a little disappointed in the white sangria since it was really sweet but it wasn’t bad at all. We make a trip from New York at least once a year for our favorite spot. The fact that parking is in the restaurant’s lot is super convenient. It’s $7 an hour but the peace of mind to not have to worry about an expiring meter is heavenly.
Enjoyed our dinner there. Witnessed an amazing Fall sunset! The staff is very friendly. The wine list is also fabulous!
I went to The Mooring with my family and friends and had an unfortunate experience.
We asked for simple drinks (sparkling water, etc) which took a while to arrive and some were forgotten. That should have foreshadowed the issue that was to happen. We proceeded to order some appetizers and our main course. Within an expected amount of time the appetizers arrived. However, it wasn't until over 1 hour later that the main course had arrived.
About 40 minutes after ordering we asked where the food was and that is when we noticed something was wrong. It appears the waiter had forgotten to place our order and the manager had to come in to solve our problem. The waiter appeared to be a regular (since no one ever mentioned training) and the fact he never checked on our table while we were waiting was unfortunate enough to demote a few stars.
The food quality was just ok. We expected more from seafood in a port town.
Everything was good food, service, atmosphere. Even though there's a great selection of restaurants in the area, The Mooring would be my first choice.
The food and service we're excellent, and there are awesome views of the harbour from there outdoor seating area, the only comment that I could make against them is that their prices are a little steep, but not shockingly so.
Excellent food, very well prepared and the staff know the food very well also.aside from the prompt and excellent service they can educate you on the dishes as well.if your visiting Newport, make reservations.
Dishes are humongous and i love there bag of doughnuts and poke appetizers, delish.and the lobster.awesome!
We've been coming to Newport for over 10 years and never came in before. Very unmemorable experience. Good waitress but the meal was bland. No need for us to return.
So I am from Wyoming and live in Texas and that was stil st best st e I have ever had! The Painkiller lived up to it's name and helped me forget my twisted ankle and bruised knee that occurred 10 minutes prior to. Also loved the swordfish! Service was excellent and we had a party of 16+ people.
