The Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina

Meh. Location is great. Otherwise it’s mediocre. Needs updating. Bar/restaurant was closed. Pool was nothing great. No coat hangers in the room. If location is important to you this is the place to be. But for the price I expected better.

Great location but the place looks much better online than in person. The rooms and lobby are very dated, our sheets were not clean and the bathtub faucet leaked the whole time. Exterior needs new siding or to be painted.

I had a block there for my guests (14 rooms total). Pictures make the hotel look MUCH nicer than it is. Extremely outdated. My guests were very disappointed. I do have to say that the hotel is in a great location downtown. I felt safe with my guests there because they have a fenced in, private parking lot where you can only enter through a gate run by a security guard.
Two of my guests (aunt and uncle who live 4 hours away) woke up on Friday morning to see that their car was damaged. Their entire back of the car was dented with the bumper almost completely off.
Security guard had no idea what happened.hotel staff had no idea what happened.and were no help at all. The staff told them to take it up with their insurance (yes, of course) but besides that, the manager or anyone else their did not offer any assistance, said they do not have cameras, and were extremely rude when my aunt and uncle were stressed and trying to figure out what to do.
When I called the hotel the next day to see if anything could be done, they said the manager would reach back out to me. No one called, so I called again a week later to see if they could offer any help or at least refund them a room for a night (they had two rooms for two nights) and the women I spoke with was very rude and no help at all.

It was a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I would never stay there or recommend it to anyone.

First came here 15 years ago much better than they need some major upgrades on their service and facilities

This hotel could not be in a nicer location in Newport, right in the middle of a ton of great food and directly on the waterfront. However, the outrageous price of these rooms is appalling considering their incredibly low quality. Our room was small and stuffy, the A/C is loud and ineffective, and the ceiling above the shower is covered in spreading black mold. The bathroom smells like mildew generally, and nothing looks like it has been thoroughly cleaned in quite some time. Both mornings I woke up sweaty from how humid it is in the rooms, and forget about how horrible it is after you take a shower - there is no ventilation. When people walk by in the halls, they might as well be in the room with you talking. And good luck sleeping if anyone is above you, the slightest movement sounds like someone is stomping around.

PROS:
•Amazing location - Within walking distance to Newport's most popular locations (The Wharf, Thames St, Broadway, etc.)
•Friendly staff.
•Big pool - plenty of space of multiple people.

CONS:
•Rooms, while clean, are in desperate need of a remodel. Everything feels a bit dated by today's standards.
•A $20 per day fee is applied to your room rate. This covers parking, access to the pool, and access to the fire pit.
•The restaurant (Salt Water) is currently closed.

If you just need a place to sleep after walking around downtown Newport all-day, then this hotel is more than adequate. However, some people may be put off by it's datedness.

I made a reservation through a third party website but i wasn't able to stay in this hotel after I booked, when I called to ask if there was military discount, the woman in the phone was so rude and extremely disrespectful and she even cancel my reservation without telling me, I had to call to the third party website and they told me that she canceled my reservation. I mean what would have happened if I'd just go and try to check in the date that I was supposed to stay without knowing that my reservation was already canceled? So horrible what this woman did to a Military Veteran. ToThe management should touch base in the mental sanity of the employees.

Room 438. Had great water view and was at end of hall. Has window outside your door with street view.

The location is incredible! The staff members here have terrible customer service. If you want to save yourself from paying this terrible resort fee I would recommend staying elsewhere and treating this facility as a parking lot. They do not monitor this parking lot and allow anyone and everyone to come and go as they please. If you stay here as a guest though they will hit you with a resort fee to pay for the parking that everyone else not staying here uses for free. The parking lot is a great location to leave your car for a visit to downtown Newport.

I surprised a family member with an overnight stay at the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. I was extremely disappointed when he face-timed me from his room. It was nothing like the photo that I clicked on when booking the room! The room had double beds, not one king like I expected, and the room looked worn and drab. During a time when the hospitality industry suffering I expected more quality, not less.

We did not let COVID-19 stop us from having our dream wedding in October in Newport. Thanks to the guidance and professionalism of the excellent team at The Newport, our guests were about to travel confidently and comfortably during this unique time. With our room block being a combination of both local and out of town guests, our hotel selection was a big decision when planning our wedding weekend. With their waterfront views, easy access to downtown and accommodating staff, we could not have made a better decision when selecting The Newport for our wedding room block and welcome reception. The Newport team played a big part in making our wedding weekend one we will always remember, for the right reasons.

Dated rooms but spacious. Very friendly staff. Great restaurant on site. Very convenient location. Family friendly.

This is an excellent location to stay at in downtown Newport. It's very clean and the staff is very respectful. It's connected to a restaurant that has good food but I would caution though, stick to dining most near the hotel's outside seating area. That live music will be so gawd awfully loud that you can't have a conversation across any seating area at the Salt Water seats.

Over priced, old.facilty not up to a$650.00 per night. Staff was very nice and very accommodating.

Only passed through the hotel to get to the marina. Very nice marina. Hotel was hosting a party that looked very well done.

Great service and awesome location.

We have been going here for years and they always seem to have a great staff and have even been remodeling lately too. There is a decent restaurant attached and they have a nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy the harbor.

Definitely the best place to stay if you want to be in the heart of things and on the water.

Hotel was fine good service, but they changed the carpet in tithe hall on the main floor while we were there, low season.

Great location, very clean and parking available (which is a big deal in Newport during the summer months). The room itself was a bit outdated, no frills but if your looking for location it's fabulous! Views of the water were fabulous, the service was friendly. Overall would recommend!
