Cafe on the Square reviews
32Always good service abs good food when I stop by. I've only eaten the breakfast foods and have no complaints.
Little cafe.just came by for coffee and pie. The chessboard pie was rich and decedent chocolate. The sawdust pie was balanced and nutty! Diner coffee which was exactly what we'd hoped for! Lovely service and view of the square.
Food tasted homemade & very large portions. Ashley was very professional, friendly & courteous.
My wife, daughter and I stopped by due to the excellent reviews for this establishment. However, our experience was piss-poor. Received our drinks in short order but the water tasted like the cleaning solution that is used to clean the cups. Rinse out your cups completely before using them again!
Took forever to get our food. My wife ordered the club sandwich and it arrived hot. Lettuce was wilted due to the hot sandwich. You don't heat up a club sandwich! Ham and turkey that was used looked like the ham and turkey you pick up at a supermarket. Definitely not fresh. She left most of the food on the plate.
I had the philly steak sandwich and the cheese wasn't melted all the way. Where it was melted, the cheese was burnt. I didn't feel too good after eating it. My daughter got the breakfast burrito and said it was good but I think she was being nice.
We eventually got to buc-ees and got brisket sandwiches.
Avoid this place at all cost!
Amazing food and great service! Family friendly!
This is our new favorite place in San Marcos.
Loved the place, our waitress was very friendly and attententive to us, will be making this our stop every time our family goes to San Marcos
The staff was very friendly. Our lunch was ok. The queso was stringy not creamy like most places. The chips seemed like they were store bought out of a bag and the onion rings seemed like they were store bought out of a bag as well and then fried there. Prices were very reasonable so we would go back and try something else.
American food, mmm, quality stuff. Looking forward to coming back with my relatives. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
This place is uncomparable! No other place comes close. Best service. Best food. I wish there was one in Dallas!
I've had not so good precious experiences here but this time around I would recommend it. I got the philly cheese steak sandwich.
We had heard good things about this place, unfortunately it was not good. The tea tasted old (2pm), the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken were dry and barely had any gravy. We were told the green beans were fresh; that was not true. Overall this was severely disappointing. The waitress was nice.
Great place for the whole family.especially if you all have different tastes in food. They have a great variety and it tastes great! The amount of food you get for the price is reasonable and the atmosphere/wait staff is nice.
Being smack dab in the middle of the Square makes it accommodating if you are here as a tourist.
Came here for the fried pickles, but their omelette was also amazing! The amount of fried pickles they give you in one order is ridiculous (definitely bring a large group if you're planning on ordering it) and my friend and I split an omelette and were still stuffed when we finished.
Tasty, American food in an historic building, with friendly excellent service. Extended hours on weekend evenings.
Rushed for time? This is not your place. Expect a friendly welcome and good attitude, you won’t find it here. Breakfast food is typical, nothing anyone should wait around for unless it’s the only place open and you’re starving. Don’t bother talking to anyone about your concerns there. We tried and they just walked away, didn’t want to hear it or could care less. No stars should be this rating.
Walked in the door and was berated by a customer for openly carrying my handgun (I am licensed and the store does not display a 30.07 sign). Left without ordering.
Food took Forever and there were only 2 other customer there. Then the entree's were not hot, just warm. Not to impressed.
Here to run a duathlon, new to San Marcos. Saturday at noon, waited over an hour for breakfast. Food was ok, nothing special. When I paid & offered some friendly advice to waitstaff to let people know it could be a long wait& give them options, was met with stony, rude silence. Won’t be back.: (
Nice friendly service normally good food get their early if you whant freash Biscuts.good service.sit towards the back for the best waitrice.
The food was good enough, but my server just seemed to have it out for me, she would be nice and jovial with all the other patrons, but didn't say more than 10 words to me the entire time I was there. She threw the tortillas that came with my food on the table, she ignored me several times, and just made me never want to come here again. I had heard several good things about this place, and was excited to try it. Extremely disapointed.
