Cafe on the Square reviews
32Came in packed, didn't know we had to be seated until we walked halfway into the establishment and then saw the sign. Once seated, we ordered around 12: 20. Other tables around us received their food and had left while we were still sitting there waiting at 12: 55. Having no contact from any employees, we decided to leave around 1pm. Poor service and attentiveness from the staff. We weren't even offered salsa for the long wait. It was like they forgot we existed. Not impressed. Sad.
Very Slow unatentive service beginning to end. Food was average at best. Do Not Order the Philly Cheese Steak - horrible. Floor dirty. Tables sticky. Historic building only saving Grace.
Don't eat here! Everything in the kitchen is covered in grease, even the door knobs r so greasy u can barely hang on 2 them and then it. The restrooms stink and need a serious cleaning, I almost slipped and fell 4 times in the 10 min I was in there, I had 2 leave.
This place was happening on a Saturday morning, but we got lucky and a table left shortly after we arrived. The food took forever. So long that eventually they offered us free chips and salsa. Once it arrived everyone scarfed down their food. It was decent, but mostly we were starving. The atmosphere is homey and I appreciate the large paintings on the wall. Nice place for a casual breakfast on the square.
Definitely recommend sitting at the bar. Overall, breakfast is delicious and the burgers are great!
Located right in the middle of San Marcos historical area, this place gives you the feel of home. The locals are so lovely, and down to earth. This place is my go to for breakfast.
The only reason we rated this 2 stars was for the friendly college girl wait staff and the atmosphere. The food was horrible. I sent my eggs back due to runny egg whites (asked for over medium) and they came back well done. The French toast was soggy, the gravy tasted like corn starch and flour the wife’s veggie omelet was way over done and had so many mushrooms that was all you tasted. Must be college boys cooking.
Kitchen very slow. Same experience as a few years ago. Definitely not going back. Waste of time.
Went for breakfast, service is great. Friendly staff in a historic building. The food however is lacking, stay away from the chorizo and egg. If you can call it that
Service was fast and the breakfast was great, better than your regular breakfast chain. Also relatively inexpensive.
This place is awesome. It's a little whole in the wall spot. The waitstaff is awesome. We have been comming here for 7 months now and we walk in and they know us. The food is what you expect for a whole in the wall diner. If ur looking for something super fancy you won't find it. But if you want a stack of pancakes or just a munch this place is the place. I love it it's a good place to bring the family.
The staff and food here are great! I went every Sunday while pregnant because I constantly craved their pancakes. We still go most Sundays and we have never had a bad experience.
