Fort Sam Houston Visitor Center reviews
24My father who is a retired veteran were on our way to the pharmacy on Friday. As we got to the gate SGT CASSANOVA said since I was with him and don't have a military ID card we have to go to the visitor center first. The visitor center is only for NON ESCORTED GUESTS. Plus he took my Driver's license.
Not a tourist Visitor Center not sure what kind of Visitor Center is but a police officer come to the door and wasn't giving any information was a waste of time
Absolutley worth the stop. Beautiful base withers well kept facilities. The museum is worth the time to visit, very interesting. Just stop by the front and get a day pass.
Went to get access to Fort Sam for shopping all you need is a disabled vet ID and you can sign on one friend
Lots of interesting history. Plus you get to feed ducks, deer, geese, and peacocks! My teens had a great time here as did me and my wife. Well worth the time to visit!
Kinda hard to get in, but it's a base! Good vibes throughout, professional staff (government grade).
I was frustrated because of a backup in getting our pass onto the base for Family Day. If you are going for this get your pass the night before so you can just drive on base. Their was only 1 person working. No clear info on how the pass was processed. Then when we went to graduation it was standing room only. Even for 80 yo grandmas.
Entirely disfunctional. Make sure you show up 2+ hours before an event because you will definitely miss it otherwise
The folks at the visitors center seem more into their own conversations than with helping you get a guest pass so you can quickly move on. That have a bad attitude.
Very courteous staff. The place was neat and clean. Usually, it takes a long time to be seen, but that day was smooth sailing. I was in and out within 15 minutes.
Fort Sam is a great place to visit. Base museums, food court, gym, and fields can make for a fun day. You will need a valid driver's license or other government ID to get onto the base.
Easy to check in took 10 minutes and ID for adults none for children check out the Combat Medic museum!
Went to the AMMED museum, very interesting and informative of the Army's medical history and advancements.
They people inside we're super friendly and so respectful. They helped me out in every way possible.
The people who work at the visitors office aren’t helpful AT ALL. Not only are they super slow almost all the time, but one person will let you get your visitors pass and then the next guy decides not to let you. It’s ridiculous.
Very professional, friendly, and courteous staff. Quite helpful with any questions or concerns that arised and ready to make the experience as easy as possible.
I want to thank each and every service member at Fort Sam Houston for the amazing time we had at the base. You made it ideal to visit.
, quick and easy to get in, they do an instant background check and warrant search usually have two to three people on duty sign in sit down and they call you within a few minutes building is clean
They did a great job for how busy it was on graduation day. Took about 30 min to get a pass and the place was packed.
Get here early. They are pretty fast at helping people but it does take time with all the civilians that need to get on post. I got there an hour before my appointment and still didnt make it on time. The officers there are willing to help, and are polite. But remember, get there EARLY.
Long line for passes. You'd think having to do graduation passes every week that they'd have a better system than having you sign in on a clipboard in the jam-packed and wait forever to be called. Preregistration or having more than two people writing passes would do wonders.
