Hana World Market reviews
31Beware of possible prejudice if you're black. I'm finally getting around to writing this, but on April 8th, I was humiliated by the short man (maybe manager) standing around after checkout. He rudely singled only me out and blocked the exit/ wouldn't let me leave. He asked me for my receipt, which I told the cashier I did not need (so I didn't have it on me). The cashier ran to the restroom after checking me out, so there was no way to confirm. After 5-10 minutes of other customers walking past and staring, the checker returned and allowed me to go. This was completely unnecessary over a <$20 purchase. He should be consistently checking everyone's receipt, not the one black person that walks out. I understand that some people promote and fester negative stereotypes with no basis, but I hope this post saves someone else from going there and being demeaned.
Lots of cool exotic fruits and veggies, Full of some of the greatest korean and asian items here, interesting experience shopping outside of your own culture.
Great Gal Bi and Bibim Bob. Don't over look this place. No crowds plus great food. Cash only. So worth it
I came to enjoy the food in the food court just inside the inner doors of the market. They usually have 3-4 vendors inside with a variety of Asian cuisine. Today I enjoyed Korean salad with raw fish. I paid $10 (cash only or take your ticket into the grocery to pay credit/debit) for this amazing dish! Fresh and deliscious served with kimchi cabbage and potatoes, also with a side of chopped sardines as a garnish. If she asks if you want hot sauce, be sure to ask for it on the side, I didn’t and she doused my beautiful fish in the sauce. Good but way too much. The grocery store is also always an adventure.
The product selection is pretty wide. The store is clean. There is a free sanitizer gel dispenser at the front. They don't carry milk. Curious. -1 star for that. At least offer an alternative.
It's kind of hard to find things in here, and you can't really ask anyone for help. As long as you have a pretty good idea of what you're looking for you can't beat the selection here! My wife and I bought some of the mixes to make our own bubble tea, it was really good! Our daughter loves Pocky so this is where we normally go to stock up.
Small store but I found what I needed. Nice staff they helped me when I couldn't find an item. It looked like the majority of the products were Korean and not multi culture products. I did see a few China products.
I also found a kpop store as well, outside the supermarket if that helps Kpop fans looking for albums and small gifts.
Very decent selection of more exotic dry food/seasonings/poultry/fish/candy/etc. Very decent prices on fish, not so decent prices on exotic fruit, but they do have some nice items if you are up for the price.
Bit of an odd smell to the place.
The one issue that bothers me is that it's hard to find an employee to help you find something, let alone one that speaks English. But if you know what you are looking for they probably have it somewhere.
That aside it's rapidly becoming my go-to for fun asian cooking projects. Definitely worth a visit
Almost anything you need is here. Only complaint is they sell in bulk but not everything shows the price you pay.
Lots of pretty good asian snacks you can choose from. Entrance has very strong seafood smell & don't have best quality asian produce (some of them looks so dry/rotten). I thought it was just when I first visited but I was wrong. Been there couple of times now but still same. Still giving it 4stars for yummy snacks and nice employees.
Best place to get anything Asian you need. Good fresh seafood, amazing fresh bakery, and great variety of vegetables and fruits. But the best part is you can make it your one stop for almost anything.
As soon as I entered the store, I smelled something stench so bad, made me rushing to get out as soon as possible. They need to keep up with the cleanliness.
Love the selections. Great place to check out if you want to try something diffrent. They also have little retaurants really good!
I love this market. They always have whatever I need! I just wish they didn't have a $5 minimum to use a credit card. It can be frustrating when you only go in there for one thing.
This is small Korean-Asian market, you can find most of asian ingredients here. Compared with some others old Asian markets like MT market or Hong Kong market around Austin, it’s cleaner and the meat is fresher. Their rewards is better than H-mart (you get $10 back for every $1000 spending at H-mart), which gives you $5 coupon for $167 spending.
Great store where we find all we need to make many of our favorite Korean, Chinese, and Thai recipes, including cookware. Great frozen section as well.
A must for all Asian foods - hard to find authentic items not available in grocery stores - where I get EVERYTHING for sushi night
I love coming here for the asian staples that I cant find at HEB, and even some that are just cheaper than HEB.
The fish smell was so powerful some people can't take that smell also many options to choose from really didn't like how they just had the fish cakes out in the open in the freezer in a clear trash bag they looked freezer burned other then that a place to go to if you want to make asian food
Hana World Market is a great store. They have very good prices and it is rarely crowded. I can get lots of hard to find items here, fresh, frozen, and packaged goods. There is a home goods section as well, which is mainly cooking utensils.
