Maudie's Too reviews
29I have been to Maudie's many times with my family. We love the food, the service, and we are Austin locals! They have been consistently delicious!
This was an absolute delicious place for lunch. We stopped here just say driving around downtown Austin and it was the best decision we made all day! Ordered the queso dip and chicken tacos and chicken and cheese chulupas! We will definitely be back!
Closest thing to authentic South TexMex Caldo, a chicken base clear soup spiced with salty chips and Mexican spices. More bland then I'm used to, just added more hot sauce and crushed complimentary chips into bowl. Also, only place open at Christmas time offering "authentic hand made" tamales. Another traditional Southern Xmas TexMex menu item rarely found in Austin anymore.
The server was awful. He was always standing by the bar talking and or doing nothing. We had to ask other servers for things as they passed by. He got one person's order wrong then still billed them for what they didn't order. The manager ended up giving us a discount when we complained but I will not go back to that location.
VERY SLOW SERVICE. Wanted to eat in, but 1 hour later we still hadn't gotten our food. We had a doctor appointment, we got it changed to a to go order. Never ate lunch. Saving it for dinner.
We got take out and it was OK. The food was a little runny, something about there being too much moisture on all our plates but maybe that's a side effect of take out, might be better if we can eat on location.
If I could give no star I would! I placed my order the guy who was taking my order on phone had a ugly attitude. And no one ever came out with my order. Waited at curbside. He probably not even took my order!
Great food! They have a great selection, great portions, and great prices. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return here.
Maudie’s Too is my favorite South Austin margarita & Mexican food place. Yesterday was my first restaurant experience after 60 days of stay home orders. Enjoyed an amazing lunch (enchilada perfectas), and delicious margaritas on the patio. Maudie’s is taking careful measures to keep their patrons safe. The staff is wearing masks, plus they’ve spread tables out allowing plenty of space for everyone. Thank You
Texmex, delicious. Very delicious. I had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. It has a good interior. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.
With so many good real Mexican places to eat, I'm not sure why this place is so popular. It's pretty bland and boring. The staff was nice though.
Waitress with attitude. Food is tasty though. After her condescending attitude and quite possibly having a bad day. There no reason to bring it to work. I dont know if Ill go back plenty of options out there for real Mexican food
My fajitas were on the spot. The only thing is, if you aren’t a big fan of very spicy food, order the fajitas without Serrano peppers. I don’t want anyone to suffer the way I did, because I mistook it for a green bell pepper.
The food is your standard tex mex. Nothing crazy. Definitely won't blow your mind, but it will satisfy your craving. The margarittas are made out of a mix and the queso is velvita.
When there's the regular question between my wife and I that involves, "Where should we eat tonight? " An easy, casual and consistent option we can always agree on is Maudies. Is it the most authentic tex mex around? No. Will you consistently get solid food and service at a very reasonable price? Yes. Come here for a fun, casual experience, not a planned, special dinner out.
I live next door; so my standards may be asking too much; but service ALWAYS gets my order wrong, is snobby and entiled with their attitude. 98% of tables are off balance. Yet they have great coffee; BUT you have to flail your arms around to let the waiter know you have been out for the last 20 minutes.
Basic Austin style Tex-Mex. Very relaxed and casual, nice covered outdoor patio. Large parking lot and convenient location.
One of my absolute favorite places to eat. I almost always get the shrimp tacos, because they're the bomb. They have good drinks and they have great salsa. They have an enclosed patio area to sit as well as indoor seating. It's always a bit crowded/cramped inside, but the food is definitely worth it.
Extra spicy sauce. Service was very slow. Messed up my order, quickly realized it, no other additional compensation or apologies for it coming out 10 minutes later than everyone else. Fair bill for the atmosphere. Would recommend due to price but not service.
Great queso and salsa! I'm not excites about their flour tortillas, but I always enjoy my meals there!
