The Liaison Capitol Hill / YOTEL Washington DC reviews
44All new rooms this summer, and very comfortable. I brought food, but no microwave to heat the food up.
Beautiful hotel but definitely not a 4 star experience. There was only one small trash can in the cabin located in the bathroom, there's no microwave nor coffee/tea maker or cups. The television offers a false option of screen sharing with your phone so that you may stream other video apps. I requested silver or plastic ware and was told that the hotel didn't carry silver or plastic ware. The staff is beautiful and pleasant. The bed was comfortable.
The room itself was fine. However my biggest complaint with this hotel is the fact that the walls are near paper thin and hidden fees. It was under construction when we went so we were woken up to loud noises very early in the morning. We had a flight change and we were earlier to DC than our check in time, so we called the front desk and asked if we could check in early, the woman said that it would be a $50 charge and we said okay, and paid for an uber to get there for them to tell us that our room wasn’t ready and wouldn't be for 5 more hours. Good luck trying to use the TV if you want to cast anything. This hotel also charges a $26/night resort fee, which in my opinion is completely shady. I have been charged resort fees in the past and have understood them as I have stayed in very nice hotels. None of their amenities were working/could be used. So the resort fee, explained my management, was us paying for using their low grade coffee station. Not happy with my stay.
Tip for management: if you want to make extra money from your guests, charge for wifi and/or offer room service.
It’s a good hotel overall, but the room was cold at night. The heat doesn’t go up as you increase the temp from the control.
This hotel is pretty much under construction as of October 29,2020.2/4 elevators don’t work so it takes forever to get anywhere. Loud construction and hammering starting at 6 AM. Construction mats and dust everywhere.
I imagine once construction is done it might be nice, but the walls and windows are paper thin. You could hear everything from the street. Overall pretty disappointed.
Nice hotel but be aware of the "resort fee" that is not included in the daily rate and not charged when booking. This resort fee is charged only at checkout and at the time of this post it was $28/day. This is not a tax but in essence a cheating way of the hotel to make you buy thinking it is cheap but charging in the end. Very deceiving. It should be illegal.
The hotel room was very large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The view was not what I excepted, it faced another hotel right across the street, but as soon as you leave the hotel and look left you have a great view of the White House. It is close to everything and the staff was helping with resolving any issues and we had a very friendly gentleman check us in at 5am.
Wonderful place to stay. Close to everything. Two blocks from Union Station. The staff was great and helped with any questions we had or anything we needed. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are my wish list bed right now. So very comfortable and very clean. Love how they put two sheets over the comforter. One on top and one on the bottom. A bonus for being on top about cleanliness! Top of the line Hotel. Couldn't ask for anything more than what they offer to you. Will be returning next year for Thanksgiving also.
There was a moving truck directly under my room (I was on 3rd floor) at around 5: 30am, loading or unloading large items and banging, which woke me up. 5: 30am is very early for deliveries of any kind that disrupt guests. Otherwise the hotel was nice, clean, and friendly staff.
HUMILIATING EXPERIENCE DURING CHECKOUT.
Everything was great up until that point. Brian Twerksy who is the guest services manager made checkout for my boyfriend and I a complete nightmare. I would love to further discuss this matter with Mr. Jeff Brainard.
I have stayed at the his hotel many times before and always had a nice experience. The last time however there were maintenance issues in multiple rooms that should have been addressed before putting someone in the room. They need to do regular maintenance checks of all rooms and catch issues prior to placing new patrons in them.
The hotel and their service is great and couldn't really be faulted but they are next door to a Fire Station. The Fire Trucks are quite noisy when they go out no matter the time of night. We were lucky they were only called out a couple of times.
The restaurant is called Art and Soul and while the food is cooked and presented well it is very overpriced.
Nice room in the heart of the city with concierge service. Easy to catch a cab or rideshare as well.
Very disapointed with this Hotel. On checkin they told that breakfast was included on a 22.95 charge they make daily, and after our stay they charged our breakfast AND this fee. Do not recomend.
One of the most comfortable hotel beds I ever have slept in. Very friendly staff. Spotlessly clean room. The only downside was the semi-self-service breakfast menu which was confusing and overpriced.
The staff could not be more helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. I felt like a valued customer!
After the Melrose discriminated against me and left me with no where to go on a cold, windy, rainy night the Liason accommodated me and welcomed me with open arms and no hesitation. For this alone I will continue to be a patron of your establishment.
While overall stay was enjoyable and the location was awesome. Then beds are somewhat okay, certainly not the most comfortable in the world. Just a word of warning.
A Three-Star Hotel with Lipstick On
Five star location. Four star price. Three star rooms. Two room keys that locked us out of our room. One mouse in our first room.
Very friendly staff, very beautiful hotel, just wish we were informed ahead of time that parking isn't included.
