Received an initial payment for damages 30 days after the incident. Although it took an additional 90 days to hear from the company about additional submissions, Claims Examiner Jodi Spilotras was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. All questions were answered promptly and thoroughly.

After a leak that required new carpet, drywall, plumbing and painting, we received a partial payment from Universal. When I contacted Universal about getting the rest of our expenses covered, Ryan Badamo, a claims adjuster, was a great help. He explained in detail exactly what documentation I needed to submit. As a result, we received full reimbursement for our claim. Ryan was responsive and professional and I give him an excellent rating. The rating for Universal would be 5 stars, but the process took too long so I give them 4 stars.

AWFUL! Did not even put most of my damage in denial letter. Worst customer service ever! Took over 3 weeks to even get anyone out to house!

I am giving a one star because I have called multiple times and I am left on hold for 20 minutes. No one has time to continue to be on hold that long. I called and left message with the adjuster handling my claim but I have yet to receive a return phone call. I also emailed but still haven’t received a response. It’s EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING dealing with a company that doesn’t respond to messages but they take your payments.

I am in the middle of a claim with Universal (my first) and wanted to let someone know that regardless of the outcome of the claim I feel lucky to have been in contact with Asiah. She has always shown the professionalism and competence that you hope to experience when you are dealing with an agent but, in addition, she conveyed a sense that she genuinely cared about my concerns. While I cannot say that this is rare I can say that it is not usual. It was a refreshing change from the common robotic responses of agents in other companies. I can comfortably say that my conversations with Asiah have left me with a very positive impression of Universal.

Paul Hernandez reinstated my mom's homeowner's and condo insurance in a professional and timely manner. He did such a great job he deserves a raise. We are new customers but we like what we've seen so far with Universal thanks to Paul.

After Irma they didnt even send the adjuster to look the damage inside the house. My hurricane damage almost get to US$60,000. I have a high premium policy, almost 3,000 a year with no claim for the last 10 years and they give me $410.00. Never return my calls and emails. Since I didn’t have that kind of money I have to rent another house. The ruined my life and credit for almost a year. But thank god and some loans I will be able to move to my house soon. But stay away of this people

I needed a simple change to my policy. Got a friendly and helpful guy on the phone and he took care of what I needed. That's all I could ask for.

Paul Hernandez is polite, respectful and responsive to all questions. I have been with Universal for a few years and I plan to continue purchasing their product of services. I couldnt have Been more thrilled with who my personal agent was! My husband and I went Through a very trying time, I spoke To Gamaliel Lozano and He instantly made things better! He was kind, polite, and even funny! He treated me like family and also called me back everytime i called him and got his voicemail. He was also so knowledgeable and very thorough in what he explained to me throughout my claim process. He was awesome! Thank you a million times for your efforts and patience with me.

Very often people only write to complain. My note is one of appreciation and thanks for the people working at Universal Property. Had a Florida owners nightmare. Our air conditioner condensate leaked through under the floor to bedroom, living room etc, water, mold etc. From the initial discovery and throughout the processes involved with remediation and repair, all those working with us at Universal have been professional, courteous and efficient. Mike Danek and Cherie your adjusters, and Mandy Aserio, who guided me through this very stressful situation were fantastic. Mandy and Cherie took ownership of their positions and were invaluable. My recommendation: avoid. We got a homeowners' insurance with them on a house we just purchased. Their inspector came to look at the house in our absence and did not like a part of the roof near a vent (they said it looked patched). He never got on the roof, just took a picture from the distance. Now we did a very thorough home inspection before the purchase and our inspector walked over all the roof and found no issues. Universal required us to get a roofing contractor to repair the area, report on overall age and condition of the roof, and send them pictures of the repair in two weeks to avoid cancellation. They refused to consider extensions. It is August. Aren't they aware that people take vacations? We are not even in town for all these two weeks. Last thing we want to do on a vacation is to scramble to address their demands which look like an attempt to get more info on our roof (which should be their guy's job), and may be raise a premium, under made up pre-text and our expense. Naturally we switched immediately to a different company. You are concerned with a particular area - ok, ask people to get a contractor to check it out, but be reasonable with time. If it gets too long, refuse to cover any damages associated with what you think is a problem spot until it is addressed. This would be understandable. But how they behaved is straight from the outer space. If they behave as unreasonably in a non-issue, no claim situation like this, we can only imagine what happens in more substantial cases.

My grandmother made a claim and was sent a check. It was misplaced and then found but because it was past the expiration date, she could not cash it. She requested another check, they promised to send it but still nothing. 3 month's later and several calls they tell her to just keep calling. She's 80 and is being taken advantage of. Talking to an attorney.

Their representative was very courteous, clear, articulate and helpful. My issue was handled quickly and while it will require some follow up on my part, I am fully satisfied.
